DONNA AFRICA RESCUED BY ST. JOHN AMBULANCE VOLUNTEERS
Posted in Uncategorized
My sister Krista and I had envisioned a wonderful camping holiday with blue skies and idyllic weather conditions for our back to basics camping holiday in North Norfolk on a farm, which soon turned into a living nightmare! Only equipped with our 2 man tent and sleeping bags we erected our simple tents on Manor Farm in Cromer and settled into our tents for the night. Well this is when the nightmare began! Torrential rains and gale force winds attacked our humble tents and I feared for our safety as the tent was being hammered by the strong forces of the gale force winds along with the ceaseless rains. I was petrified, cold, wet and exhausted and feared for our safety as I was certain that the tents would not with stand the harshness of these destructive weather conditions and that we would no longer have shelter from the relentless storms. Fortunately, I had meet in disguise an ANGEL OF MERCY namely Derrick Fernandez at the Local Co-op earlier that day when buying supplies, when enquiring where to buy a blanket Derrick was one of the customers who offered me some valuable advise and help in our camping endeavours. I then learnt that he and his son Anthony Fernandez (11 years of age) were also Volunteers for St John Ambulance. On leaving he gave me his contact details and I thanked him. To cut a long story short after a hellish night and still in the light of day the wind had become much more fiercer & stronger and we were being battered by this fierce wind and ceaseless rain so I decided to made the call and like a true knights in shining armour, Derrick and his son Anthony Fernandez drove out to the farm to rescue myself and my sister who had also bruised her ribs. They helped put down the tents in the terrible winds and rains and drove us all the way back home safely to Norwich. Derrick & Anthony Fernandez would not take our money so this is the only way I can personally say THANK YOU to these wonderful Angels of Mercy and True Good Samaritans Derrick and Anthony Fernandez and I truly hope they get the recognition that they deserve for their kindness. Society should clone these unselfish and truly kind giving and caring father and son dynamic duo. Derrick and Anthony have restored my faith in people again. I thank you and I salute you! Bless you both with all my heart from a much appreciative Donna Africa who is back home safely, warm and dry thanks to My Angels of Mercy, Derrick & Anthony Fernandez of St John Ambulance.
